Sacramento's Low Flying Owls formed in 2001 with vocalist Jared Southard, keyboard player Andy Wagner, guitarist Michael Bruce, and bassist Sam Coe.
Their electric live show created a buzz in 2002, allowing Low Flying Owls' rock & roll status to explode, while the band issued Take the Scenic Route on its own The Americans Are Coming label. Shared gigs with the likes of Clinic, the Stratford 4, the Warlocks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre followed into the next year. By this time, Low Flying Owls inked a deal with Stinky. Their sophomore effort, Elixir Vitae, appeared in August 2003. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
