Frontman, Mike Mewborne, began the project in 2005 with close friends Taylor Bray, Emily Franklin, and Hannah Smolinsky. As “Mikey Mew and the Lovely Few,” they released Long Division in 2007. As members relocated, though, the band regrouped in 2009, and by 2010 they released The Limited Abilities of Man under the simplified moniker “The Lovely Few.”

Mewborne, now joined by his wife Kate and long-time friend Alan Davis, began working on The Meteor Series in 2011. The project references an instrumental track from Long Division, and is to be a series of theme records devoted to various meteor showers. Pairing acoustic and electronic elements, epic allusions and tender vocals, the band ventures into darker and more unexplored territory. Joining independent label Hearts and Plugs in 2012, The Lovely Few seeks to create approachable yet cerebral songs on humanity, divinity, and everything in between.
