Along with keyboardist/songwriter Jansen Swy, the two had previously played together in moody garage trio the All-Night Push when they were living in Detroit, but upon relocating to Brooklyn, the duo re-formed in a stripped-down configuration, dropping the keys for a more rudimentary sound. They played locally for three years, sharing bills with Sturk's other project, Palmyra, as well as Chris Bathgate, Matt Jones, Adam's Castle, Drunken Barn Dance, and other luminaries of the Michigan-via-Brooklyn indie rock network.
