Named in honor of a favorite exclamation on the Saturday morning cartoon series The Adventures of Scooby Doo, the ten-piece third-wave ska revival outfit the Jinkies formed in Minneapolis in 1994.
Originally omprising vocalists Leah Drury and Christy Riess, trumpeter Jesse "Skank Paul" Miner, tenor saxophonist Alex Braden, guitarist John Huttner, trombonist Aaron Pyles, baritone saxophonist Matt Barthelemy, bassist Elmar "O.G." Romain, pianist Kartik Mohan and drummer Brian Katz, the Jinkies first garnered notice with appearances on a number of compilation records before recording a demo, 9 Piece Nug Combo, in 1996; after signing to the Kingpin label, they began work on their full-length debut. ~ Jason Ankeny
