Hanan is the only female artist to successfully break into the male-dominated world of Al-jil pop music.
A heterodox representative of a socially marginal music, Hanan began her musical career within the very fortress of tradition, singing with the Arab Music Institute Ensemble. Her big break came with the single "Beima" (Smile). She can be heard on innumerable cassettes, including Besma (I'm Listening). ~ Leon Jackson
