Mix together the writing style of Pete Yorn with the grand sound of Coldplay and you're close to describing Theft, the solo project of Matt McCartie that sounds a heck of a lot like a band.
After playing in numerous bands on both coasts, last of which was Los Angeles' Eskimohunter, McCartie decided to go it alone and began building a recording studio in his backyard. He played every instrument on Theft's demos and 60 recorded songs later he was receiving licensing deals from the likes of MTV, who used his "Seeing Stars" for an episode of Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County aired in 2007. Playing gigs across the U.S. and working on Theft's debut album followed. ~ David Jeffries
