After "Gerber "Cut Off All His Hair Euge Left Home at 14 and Moved to the Legendary Hollywest Building Where He Met and Became the Teen Roadie of the Legendary Punk Band "the Cheifs" Who happened not by chance to notice his Natural Musical Skill and gave Him the nickname" Euge" . Later "Euge" Gained National Notoriety as an Endearing Punk Rocker Featured in the 1981 Theatrical Release "The Decline of Western Civilization" (a Documentary of the Los Angeles Punk Rock Scene of the time Filmed between 1979 and 1980)Since then through stints as a Song Writer in Many California Bands Gradually Moving from Punk to Mod Psychedelia and and Finally Early 60's Style Folk as a Solo Act , Euge has Forged a Career from Traveling Hundreds of Thousands of Miles in the U.S.A.and Europe Playing Concerts, Writing, and Singing about the World around him. After Securing The Record Deal but Before the Recording of "En Garde" Euge and The Madly Talented Pianist Brad Watson spent Months Going Through the Songs in Brad's Luxurious East Melrose Flat

Brad With His Trusty Wurlitzer and Euge on that Old Harmony He Picked up in Haight Ashbury .Euge had just Finished Composing the Gothic Folk Masterpiece "Seven Crowns" in Burbank . it was around this time they contacted "the Secret Weapon" a.k.a. David J. Herrera of 80's era New York City Garage/Psychedelic Band "The Cheepskates".(You can Listen to Some of Dave's NYC era Music "Herrera and the Handouts" Feauring the Major Players of the NYC Psychedelic Scene by ..clicking here...) Euge had played with Dave years Earlier in the Psychedelic

Power Pop Band ..Friends of Mine.. which also Included the Great Songwriter Mark Ziolkowski

along with the Legendary and Influential Drummer "Rabbit" of "the Cheifs" and "the Simpletones". soon after the Trio Contacted Greg Rogers . a Native of Knoxville, Tennessee. who had Previously Played with Poison 13, the OBSESSED etc. as well as Playing on Every "Euge"Recording up to that Point.Next they Needed A Bass Player who could Handle Electric as well as Stand Up Bass . Euge and Brad Watson Found the Perfect Player in Jeff Mc Elroy Who is a Monster of A Player and Has Played Internationally with Top Groups.

Lastly, an Angelic Female Voice was Required for the Songs "Orange People" and "the Green Mountaineer" this Choice Euge had Made Years Before in the Person of Chicago's

Victoria Jacobs aka the Folksinger "Streamline Duster"

THIS WHOLE ALBUM WAS RECORDED LIVE.

TRACKS:Recorded at Paramount Studios in Hollywood,California and Mixed at Jimmy Sloan's Studio in L.A. by Robert Carranza with Brad Watson(Pianist)on the phone to Euge who was up in Portland, Oregon

I'M A DRIFTER

I'M A DRIFTER During the Recording of this song there was Major Poltergeist Activity in the Vocal Booth with Clooset Doors flinging Violently open having not been asked.

(Euge Does All Vocals Live while Playing Guitar)

and Also the Studio Is Haunted. Despite all This David John Herrera Was Able to Come up With that Killer Guitar"Hook" which was not there During the Several Months Practice for This Recording. this is Why some Musicians Have called Dave Herrera "The Secret Weapon" For He Is Simply One of the Best Rock Guitarists to Ever Live and is Able to See Through the Mist of a Song And Reveal it's True Essence.

as it Turns Out This Song Has Proved More than Prophetic for Euge for it Seems as of this Writing He Has Really Become the Protagonist of That Song.

"a Drifter Ended up Lonely with Nothing But only a Song and. a Half of a Heart"...(Fecking Heart Breaking!) anyways..

THE GREEN MOUNTAINEER

This Song is about Ethan Allen and "the Green Mountain Boys" David Herrera Bought a Banjo the Day Before and with Ever Having Played One He Cooked! With Brad Watson on Hammond B3

All of it Recorded Live!

Amazing.

Originally a Marching Song in the Revolutionary War Against the British. Euge Completely took it Apart and Remade it Conceptually the Concept Being:

How Would Frank Sinatra Sing it If He Was There?

We Now... Thank God. Have That Answer!

TIM EVANS

Originally Written by the Great Folk Pioneer Ewan MacColl.

Again Euge Takes this one apart and Puts it back together.

Euge had been kept awake many nights by his Bulgarian Neighbors,(Who as it turns out were Actually Yugoslav War Criminals!!) Helicopters, and the Fact that Really Most "Surf Music"was Instrumental.

This Really Irked Him and Being A Devotee as well as playing Gigs with Such Groups

as "Lawndale" and "The Insect Surfers" Euge made a couple of Phone Calls and located the Correct Chemicals to Make & Re- Arrange this once Mellow Celtic Style Ditty into A Fucking Monster! And in the Process May have Originated what one could term "Surf Folk".

SEVEN CROWNS

Euge gets all End of Days on us with this one....

The Images He Weaves are Spooky and Beautiful at the Same Time

Written In Burbank, California in 15 minutes in A Sort of Trance. or So He Claims..

one Eye Witness Swears She Saw Euge Levitate...

with The Gorgeous Grand Piano Of Brad Watson this One is an Instant Classic.

ROADMAP

Once Considered Euge's Signature Song

An Anti- Materialist Anthem of Sorts . Very Latin in Feel. Elegant and Precise.

Written by Euge in a Rubber Tree in the Mountains above Dodger Stadium whilst under the Influence of Mass Psylocybin and Mescal Worms.

This Song Probably would Not Have been Recorded for the "En Garde" Album.

yet weeks before the Recording Session Euge and Brad Watson Were Playing a Show in Hollywood California at "Bar Deluxe" just off Hollywood Blvd. when it Was Loudly Requested from the Audience from Tex and the Horse Heads/Mojo Wire Bassist Pat Mack

REGARDING THE NUMBER

Not a Normal Euge Song especially in the lyrics

Euge Actually Considers it More of A Hammer than a Song

Blunt and to the Point.

What Really Makes This Song Take Flight is The Guitar of Don"Mad Dog" Rutherford from Knoxville, Tennessee. Formerly of the Band "Holy Water"

He Is Always "ON".

and This Time Was No Different.

UNUSED DIALOGUE

a High Brow Psychedelic Masterpiece Written By Euge and Beat Poet/Multi Media Artist Nathan Gates Formally of Austin Texas Band "The Big Boys"

the Pair Each Merged 1 of their Own Poems Together and "Presto"

this Song is Too Much.

HE'S KEPT A JOURNAL

An Epic Bossa Nova/Samba Piece Virtually "Received" by Euge Via Voices from the stratosphere over the Course of Several Days.He stayed up All Hours Finally Finishing it at Daybreak on the the Shore of Echo Park Lake. Based on Real Events and the Bizzare Life Style He and His Friends Enjoyed at The Time.

Euge Considers this Song One of His Best.

"En Garde" Is a 13 Song CD. This is Merely 10 of the Tracks.
