The Bionaut was an alias used by Jörg Burger, a gentleman who was one of techno music's earliest supporters and a champion of Cologne (Germany) minimalism music.
The Bionaut issued several tracks on Europe-only releases from 1993 through 1997, all of which are increasingly hard to find and/or out of print. But Matador Records took care of the problem in 2001, by compiling the 18-track collection Lubricate Your Living-Room. Burger has issued albums under a variety of different aliases over the years, including burger/ink, the Modernist, Trinkwasser, and Geometric Farms, and in addition to his musical adventures, Burger has run both the Popular and Eat Raw record labels. ~ Greg Prato
