An eight-member group who were mostly high school-age when their star began to rise, the Band Eclypse began their journey as a duo.
Rappers Daniel Lonner and Jeremy Jordan-Jones landed on the audition stage for Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, but after making it past the first round, they decided a live backing band was required for a truly high-energy performance. Adding guitarists, a drummer, background singers, and such, the Band Eclypse was born. They went on to win two more rounds at the Apollo before being sent home, but all eight members wanted to continue, so a series of gigs around New York State soon followed. Their dynamic live show earned them a loyal following, and when the band self-released their debut EP, Ten Past, in 2010, their fans headed to the computers. The EP hit digital Hop/Rap charts in its first week of release, and the New York Times took note, running a feature on the supposedly unknown band in their Culture section. ~ David Jeffries
