On October 15th, 2012, Adam and Collin had an impromptu jam session after finding out that they shared the same passion for song writing.
10 days later, they played their first run through at Collin's home consisting of 6 songs. Less than a month later long-time friend of both Adam and Collin, Eric Roten, joined the acoustic duo and with the foundation of his jazz-inspired bass lines, Adam's rocking guitar progressions and Collin's mesmerizing vocal harmonies, the band was formed.

The Artist Calling has since gone on to headline their very first live gig in Deep Ellum (and nearly every other show played), and were guests of "The Hungover with V Show" hosted by V, Veronica Navarro, with Michael Morgan of Loyal Sally (with whom The Artist Calling has "battled" at The Battlefield Bar) on Deep Ellum online radio. The acoustic trio has performed for many special events, including a charity event for the Irving Chapter of AMBUCS, and has put together/hosted their own festival, "Bipolapalooza, an eclectic mix of music", along with Randall Day of Reasoning. The event was hugely successful in both locations it was held, Denton and Austin, and featured 10 musical acts.

After taking a bit of time off in the summer of 2013, the band decided to take a slightly different musical direction and slowly started looking for the right drummer to perfect the sound they were trying to achieve. After releasing The Artist Calling's third EP, Dawn, in early fall 2013, the band kicked off their next round of shows by playing their last show ever without drums, harkening a new day for the band. With a no nonsense approach to song-writing, haunting melodies, and groovy jams, The Artist Calling is posed to explode onto the scene and not look back!
