they were a "high school" band. occasionally a 2nd guitarist Tristan Dixson also.the band played one or two local gigs in their home town Huddersfield before breaking up and new members arrived.

the scallywags went into highfields recording studio in 2008 with James Franco vocals/guitar Kingsley George guitar, Paul Lockwood bass guitar and Andy Cowburn drums, to record a 5 track ep. some off which songs are on this website (grass is greener and humpty dumpty).

the band split 2009 when after playing many gigs in leeds halifax huddersfield and dewsbury, equipment went missing. it was a member of the band stealing.in 2010 the scallywags returned again with James Franco, Joe Haigh, Dean Trotter and Tom Noon (sticks and stones, reggae song) and still together.

after this in 2010 the scallywags, James Franco, Joe Haigh, Dean Trotter and Tom Noon began to play. until 2011 and after a three year break are now back together rehearsing new material to be ready for late 2014.
