Named after a town in southeastern Australia, Tamarama models its beachside folk-pop after Jack Johnson, G. Love & Special Sauce, and other advocates of acoustic guitars and relaxed, casually spun vocals.
Founding members Jay G. Lyon and Nick "Pottsy" Potts relocated to New York City after the band's formation, and Lyon's budding romance with reality TV star Whitney Port (from the MTV series The Hills and The City) helped boost Tamarama's profile in late 2008. ~ Andrew Leahey
