Composer,born in Poland and established in Paris (France) from the age of 16, Sylvia Filus has received the Advanced Level Diploma of Film Music Composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and the Advanced Level Diploma of Orchestration, First Prize at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
In order to complete her musical education, she followed the two years conducting program lead by prof. Adrian McDonnell at the Conservatoire Frédéric Chopin in Paris and composition master-classes with Milosz Magin and Michel Merlet. SylviaFilus has composed music fordifferent ensembles, from chamber music to symphonic orchestra and for several movies. In 2008, at therequest of the Pomeranian Society Musica Sacra and the Chamber Orchestra of Gdynia, Sinfonietta Nordica, she wrote the Cycle of 3 Melodies for mezzo-soprano, baritone, and orchestra, which was performed during the festival The Musicof Words in Gdynia (Poland). In 2010 she was commissioned by the Polish Strauss Society to commemorate Chopin’s 200 Anniversary and wrote Fantasia in “salt” minor, performed by the orchestra Obligato at the Symphonic Chopin concert in the Salt Mine of Wieliczka (near Cracow). During the same year, Sylvia Filus took part in the Jury of the festival Romantic Piano in Reims (France) and was honored with theTrophy of Women‘s Success by the Association France-Euro-Méditerranée. She also became finalist of the competition International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition awarded by the National Academy of Music. In 2011 Sylvia Filus was invited to take part in the SACEM Jury for film music prize in short movies during the film festival Premier Plans in Angers and has composed music for her first feature film “Le Bout du monde” (The End of the World) by the Moroccan filmmaker Hakim Noury. She was also commissioned to compose music for two silent movies “Danseur de jazz” (feature) and “Troppo Bello!” (short) by Lobster Films and SACEM for the european film collection on line Europa Film Treasures. In 2013 Sylvia Filus participated in the Jury of the XV Milosz Magin International Piano Competition and has been awarded in the International Composition Competition "Artistes en herbe" in Luxembourg.
