Sylvain Marcotte is now recognized as an exceptional musician in Quebec Area.
Musical director of many huge shows, composer and arranger for almost every concert presented in the Quebec Center area, Sylvain also pursues a pianist career, founding his reputation on years and years of experience and a unique natural talent.

On his way, he even had the opportunity to collaborate with such famous musicians as Paul Brochu (Jazz fusion Band Uzeb’s Drummer, Michel

Cusson (world renown composer and guitarist), Michel Donato (Quebec Double Bass Legend) Paul Wertico, Pat Metheny Group’s ex-drummer and Emmanuelle Caplette, world renown female drummer.

In 1988, Sylvain forms Triaz, a fusion-jazz group who plays original stuff. In 1990, Triaz records their first album titled Phase and then embarkes on a remarkable tour through Quebec, France and Belgium. After, but without Triaz, this time, Sylvain records Inspiration and These days of wine and roses.

From 1998 to 2011, during summer, Sylvain was also the musical director and keyboardist, for one of the biggest multimedia show in Quebec called Légendes Fantastiques (Fantastic Legends). During all these years, Sylvain also played as pianist, keyboardist and musical director with many pop artists from Quebec musical scene. While playing with all those artists, Sylvain also pursues to reach his personal goals, writing his own

original music.

In 2001 and 2004, in Drummondville, Sylvain records Melodification and Over the Rainbow Rainbow with the drummer Matthias von Imhoff, from Switzerland, and the bass player Jean-Bertrand Carbou, from France. The trio is unique by its intensity, cohesion and richness. 2001 is also the year which Sylvain receives the “performing Arts Award” from the Mauricie and Centre of Quebec Communication and Culture council Communication and Culture council.

In 2005, Sylvain leaves Quebec for Shanghai, in China, to take part of the project Era – Intersection of Times of the

Shanghai Circus World. There, with Michel Cusson, he contributes to compose and to arrange the music of the production. In 2006, he had produced, composed and arranged his own multimedia shows, one called Tableaux de voyages (Trip scenes), which had put on the same scene more than 20 artists.. More than ever creative, he seems to have found his own way to do music.

In 2012, Sylvain works on 2 major projects. With young but famous female drummer Emmanuelle Caplette, he formed CMC Trio (Caplette-Marcotte-Carbou), a jazz trio performing original music of his own. Trio his an important part of Sylvain’s life. The perfect combination! Sylvain Marcotte is currently at a highlight point of his career. The “Mondial des Cultures” (international culture and traditional music festival) of Drummondville even made a tribute for him and the two famous Quebec composers Michel Cusson and Jean-Marie Benoît, for the quality of their work.

In 2010, Sylvain received two important awards “performing Arts Award” from National Gal’Art 2010 (Quebec Arts and Letters Council) and Artistic Creativity Award, from his hometown Drummondville. Sylvain recently received the very prestigious "Honor Award" from Quebec Arts and Letters Council for his work as a musician and also as a music producer and composer. His also part of the 5 nominees for the prestigious “Personality of The Year Award” of Drummondville Chamber of Commerce

In 2012, Sylvain produced his new rock project BLISS - Living for Rock Music. An original rock music project which waited too long to be release but it’s actually taking the most important place in Sylvain’s career.

BLISS - Living For Rock Music is a rock music project formed in 2012 by Sylvain Marcotte, Canadian producer, singer/songwriter and music composer. Sylvain received many important “Performing Arts Awards” from Quebec Arts and Letters Council and the musical industry. After a long career as a pianist, musical director for many singers, huge musical productions in Quebec and all over the world, music teacher, 6 jazz solo albums, Sylvain gets back to his first love and influence, Rock Music.

BLISS - Living For Rock Music is this musical moment that pushes Sylvain to realize his first dream that is about being on stage, performing his own original songs. Songs that tell stories about love, life, revealing the truth, banishing lies and inviting us to achieve our most cherished dreams.

From the Beatles to Foo Fighters, through Jimi Hendrix, Genesis, Coldplay, U2, Supertramp and many others, from roots of rock to progressive rock, through the British invasion and pop / rock, Sylvain Marcotte does not deny its influences, each show is a unique experience that allows him to fully live its own music

As a child Sylvain had lessons on the piano, and by his teenage years already wrote his own music, sang, played guitar and bass in local bands with friends and family. In order to improve his musical knowledge and become a professional musician he decided to study jazz music in College. He then became very busy, playing in tons of musical projects and never got his music degree.

On his way, he had collaborated with such famous musicians as Paul Brochu (Jazz fusion Band Uzeb’s Drummer, Michel Cusson (world renown composer and guitarist), Michel Donato (Quebec Double Bass Legend) Paul Wertico, Pat Metheny Group’s ex-drummer and Emmanuelle Caplette, world renown female drummer.

As the band leader, singer and rhythm guitarist of his own rock band Sylvain hired Emmanuelle Caplette on Drums, Karl Mousseau on Keyboards, Jean-François Fortin on Bass ans vocals and Jérôme Martin on Guitars, wich are all good friends he knows for years and with whom he played in many different musical projects.

BLISS - Living for Rock Music, waited too long to be released, but it actually takes the most important place in Sylvain’s career. His sensitivity and creativity brings him always further, in roads where nobody went before. As an artist who worth discovering, Sylvain Marcotte allows you not only to love his music, but also to live it.
