Hip hop artist J-Swift was born Joseph Anthony Hernandez on the day of March 7th 1990 in the city of Riverside, Ca. In the next few year following his birth his family moved numerous times thru out the different cities of the Inland Empire area of Southern California. At around the age of 7 his family finally settled in the city of Moreno Valley. Swift didn’t get into music seriously til around 5 years later at the age of 12. He started writing verses in notebooks. He honestly didn’t have a clue what a verse meant or what it meant to write a simple 16 bars at this time in his life. He was just writing what he felt and not even to beats at this point. It wasn’t until 8th grade at Landmark middle school that he was introduced to broader aspects of writing and making music. This was around the time battle rap was introduced to his life. While attending school during most recess and lunch sessions he could find many students gathered together to watch two of his schoolmates going head to head in freestyle rap battles. This was something Swift found himself very intrigued with and knew he wanted to be a part of. So he Organized and hosted what he called freestyle Wednesdays which took place after school in one the classrooms on campus. This event was open to anybody who wanted to simply test their skills or prove they were amongst the elite in there age group. Also it was open to males and females alike. It wasn’t until the time of his middle school talent show came about that he got introduced to the person that changed the way he felt about music forever. On the day of the talent show the partner he set to perform was a no show so he had no set ready. While walking around outside the venue thinking of a plan he ran into another young artist by the name of Nick Sam who happened to go by the moocher Yung Draztic. As it turned out Draz didn’t get a spot in the talent show so they decided to go on together. And even though Swift was quite nervous with this being his first live performance they succeeded in putting on a mice show. In the weeks that followed Swift and Draz became close friends. Draz invited Sift to his house after school one day to show him his home recording studio. After recording his first song(which took hours) Swift was instantly hooked. In the years to pass however music took a passenger seat to other numerous situations in his current life. Among these were his involvement in drug dealing and avid car thefts upon entering high school. In 2006 a lot of things in his life changed for the worst. One of his favorite cousins was set up and gunned down just two blocks away from where swift stayed. This was the first time but definitely not the last death and the street life would take someone he was close to. About a year year later he Joined the infamous street gang known as Eastside Webb Block Unknown Sex Cash Mafia. Around this this time his troubles started landing him in multiple stints in juvenile hall. In December of 2009 he was arrested for commercial burglary which landed him in county jail for four months. During this time he vowed to never give any more of his life to the system. Upon his release date he decided to move to Sacramento were he struggled to continue with his career in music. After two and a half years he moved back to southern California were tried to pick up the pieces of his music were he left off but with minimal success. The same team he had once before was totally separated and most didn’t even talk to each other anymore. So he along with he decided to start a indie label of his own which he named L3gacy Ent. Which only himself and his cousin Brandon hale also known As YD Hustle are currently members. Swift now currently resides in chandler Arizona where he his in the process of finishing and releasing his first debut album under his indie label which is titled “ Now or Never”.
