"You guys remind me of a day at Rye Playland" —Noah Scalin (Ghost of Mankind)
"Hello Kitty–personality indie confections from Brooklyn…Maybe too cute, but Muffs and Fastbacks fans might well not think so." —Chuck Eddy (Village Voice)

Playful and poppy, Sugar Syndicate have a flair for writing catchy melodies that rattle around in your brain for days, but somehow take only 3 minutes to listen to.

Wendy Walters (bass/vocals) and John Brinkman (guitar/vocals) both come from Michigan, where they grew up listening to everything from the Yardbirds to X, the Four Tops to the Misfits. They formed Sugar Syndicate in the fall of 1999. Add in Michael Mellett (formerly of the bands Crotch and Hard Candy) on drums, and Lara Feldman (Peacock's Arcade) on keyboards, guitar and backing vocals, and you’ve got Sugar Syndicate. That was easy!
