Known more for their festival appearances than their recorded output, English dance act Subgiant were classified as both breaks and trance but incorporated several other styles, including dub and drum’n’bass, throughout their existence.
Formed in 2000, Subgiant settled on a lineup of Olly Maw (bass, keyboards, programming), Tushar Joshi (drums, percussion), and Dan Hayes (turntables). By the mid-2000s, the group became a major draw at outdoor festivals and graduated to slots at major events like Bestival and Glastonbury. Maw, Joshi, and Hayes released three albums during the 2000s: Advances in Twig Technology (2005), Global Control (2006), and This (2008). ~ Andy Kellman
