An eccentric, knockabout group based in the Lakeland area, England, Strange Folk included Mike Willoughby and Mike Gavin who played a mixture of skiffle environmental protest material.
They discovered the folk scene for two summers, played the festivals, drove about in an old van, made music on anything available, recorded an album for Fellside Records, and then split up.
In the mid-90s Willoughby formed the Cumbrian-based ceilidh band Striding Edge. He also promoted himself as a solo singer songwriter.
