Storm King was initially formed in April of 2006 by Scott Massie (Bottomfeeder, the Bully Cats), Adam Weston (Afterlife, Monolith) and Tom D’Andrea (Unfortunate Friend, Pittsburgh Fire Fighters Memorial Pipe Band), with the addition of Andy Kichi (Enemy Mind) and Mark Bogacki (Complete Failure, Enemy Mind) just months before the band recorded their demo EP, The First Four Songs, at Treelady Studios in April of 2008.
That summer, the band teamed up with engineer/producer, Dave Piatek (www.davepiatekrecording.com), who would go on to record the material for Storm King/Necrolysis (split-2008), Angels of Enmity (LP-2009), Aura of Failure (EP-2010) and now, Everything That’s Meaningful In Your Life Will Be Destroyed (LP-2013), all released on the Innervenus label, which is owned and operated by members of the band.
Storm King has shared the stage with Soulfly, Goatwhore, Watain, Bloodiest, Stinking Lizaveta, Complete Failure, Enfold Darkness, Black Anvil, Derketa, Dethlehem, Hero Destroyed, Kamikabe, Neocracy, Anicon, Rue, Argus, Forged In Flame, Vulture, Lady Beast, Mockingbird, Mantic Ritual, etc.
Let's look at two previous reviews, shall we?
1) "...ridiculously overstretched drum passages and five minute intro of Massie howling almost as badly as whoever the vocalist(s) of Mastodon is(are)..." - Diabolical Conquest Webzine
2) "Hellish blast beats and rhythm section (actually their drummer is uhm… semi-God, I‘d say) and an avalanche of heavy riffs and solos. When the melodic vocals change the scene to Opeth-like, it’s absolutely wonderful." - Metal Zone
So, I guess what I'm saying is, it depends on who you are.
