Lund's manager Ron Kitchener, from RGK Entertainment Group is pictured on left.Lund later invited Petersen on stage during his show at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium to publicly present the Gold record.Released in November 2007, Corb Lund's third Stony Plain release now joins his previous two albums "Five Dollar Bill" and "Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer" as certified Gold records in Canada.       Ian Tyson, the beloved Canadian singer and songwriter, is resting comfortably in a hospital near his Longview, Alberta ranch, recovering from open-heart surgery.A blockage required an aortic valve to be replaced; the operation took place two weeks ago in Calgary’s Foothills Hospital.Tyson, impatient to get back to his ranch, is wryly amused that the replacement valve came from a cow’s heart.

      It is with great sadness that we share the news of folksinger/actor Leon Bibb's passing last night at age 93 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The father of Stony Plain Records' recording artist Eric Bibb, our thoughts go out to Eric, Sari, Dorie and the rest of the immediate family. Leon Bibb grew up in Kentucky, studied voice in New York, and worked on Broadway. He lived in New York City for many years, but called Vancouver his home since 1969.Bibb performed at the first Newport Folk Festival in 1959 and had his own NBC television talk show. During the late-1950s and early-1960s, Bibb was blacklisted for alleged ties to left-wing groups and causes. In 1963 Bibb traveled to Mississippi to fight against racial segregation.Bibb was later featured singing on the national TV show, "Hootenanny," along with several appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show."In 2009, Leon was made a Member of the Order of British Columbia.
