STEARICA are a three-piece band from Torino, Italy.
Their deep sound has been developing during the past 14 years touring with legendary bands like Nomeansno, GirlsAgainstBoys, Damo Suzuki, The Ex, Acid Mothers Temple, etc.
STEARICA toured extensively all around Europe, playing among the others in international festivals like the Hokaben in London (with Don Caballero, Sun Ra Arkestra, Chris Corsano), Villette Sonique (with Wolf Eyes, OM), the Be2gether in Lithuania (with Groove Armada, GvsB, Clinic), the Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the Space in The Volume in Madrid, the Traffic in Turin (with Tricky, Battles), the Soy in Nantes (with Why?, Six Organce of Admittance, No Age), etc.
Their highly acclaimed debut album "Oltre" was a ten songs work presenting the ability of the band to explore different music attitudes. "Oltre" featured special guests like Dälek MC (Ipecac), Amy Denio (Fred Frith, Derek Bailey, Matt Cameron, etc.), Jessica Lurie (Bill Frisell, Nels Cline), Nick Storring (Picastro, Damo Suzuki network).
In 2010 after doing 2 extensive tours with the famous Japanese Space-Psych troubadours Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O., they collaboratively created a document of a friendship between the two bands on the critically acclaimed LP "Stearica invade Acid Mothers Temple", which is also a collaboration between London´s Robot Elephant Records and Homeopathic collective.
In 2009 and 2011 The Wire chose twice the band on the prestigious compilation The Wire Tapper, respectively, in volumes 22 and 25. It´s the first time an Italian project has the honor to be included two times in the historical compilation that during the years has hosted bands like Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth, Liars, Four Tet, etc.
To crown the first part of 2011, the piece of news that the artistic director of Primavera Sound has invited the band to play in the 2011 edition of the festival which will take place next May and will host the lice acts of artists like PJ Harvey, Nick Cave & Grinderman, Interpol, Mogwai, etc..
For the occasion, Aloud Music (Spain) reprinted "Oltre" in a precious super limited white vinyl edition.
