When "Norways finest psychedelic-stoner-folk-band" (sic) Spirits of the Dead, released their eponymous debut album in 2008, few could have been more surprised than the band of the albums overwhelming rewiews
Crowned with a place in Classic Rock Magazine s celebration of "the Best Albums of the Year", the somehow both retrospective and futuristic quality of the music, made it clear that something was in the making. The band themself claimed they were "mixing the Sound of the Past with the Sound of 2012".

"Great God Pan" (2011) was released on Brooklyn based label, The End Records, and it s mix of moody Freakfolkishness and Pagan imagery, again did it for reviewers and music-lovers alike. Graced by some beautiful cover-art by British fine-artist Oliver Cartwright, the album managed to create a world of its own, floating in a stream of Echolette-guitar, Mahogny-rimshots and Lovecraft horror-stories. Which led to an invitation to SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Now it s 2013, and Spirits of the Dead are about to rise the stakes. "Rumours of a Presence" digs deeper and goes to, even more, profound places than the band has been ever before. Recorded in remote districts of Norway, this grand record lingers with the big questions, Life, Death and the Sea. Well, to be honest...Death and the Sea, really.
