Formed in 1996 in Fresno, California, Sparklejet was a stripped-down, no-frills rock band that garnered attention from Billboard magazine (in one of their Best New Artist features), got their music on ESPN's Extreme Games, and got compared to such luminaries as the Replacements, the Kinks, and the Rolling Stones.
Their first three albums, 1997's Soap, 1998's This Years Model, and 2001's Bar Guest were solid enough to get them the attention of legendary "recorder" Steve Albini, who worked on their fourth full-length, Beyond the Beyond, on Long Live Crime Records. ~ Chris True
