A country-pop trio featuring three photogenic brothers, Sons of Sylvia was formed in 2007 by Adam Clark (guitar, mandolin), Ashley Clark (lead vocals, fiddle, guitar, mandolin), and Austin Clark (background vocals, resonator guitar).
Along with three other siblings -- Aaron, Andrew, and Alan Clark -- the members were originally part of the Clark Family Experience, a sextet that recorded an album for Curb Records in 2002 before disbanding and filing for bankruptcy one year later. Adam, Ashley, and Austin regrouped as the Clark Brothers and began performing live in 2007, eventually walking off with the top prize on Fox’s The Next Great American Band television show. Winning the TV contest led to a record contract with Universal South Records, and the trio renamed itself Sons of Sylvia in 2009.

Label reshuffling left Sons of Sylvia without a record deal, however, and they consequently signed with Interscope Records/19 Recordings in 2010. The debut album Revelation appeared that same year, and the brothers promoted its release by touring the country with Carrie Underwood (whose 2009 album, Play On, featured Sons of Slyvia on the song "What Can I Say"). ~ Steve Leggett
