Somnae was formed by EJ Oropza in 2002 originally as a solo project.
However it was soon decided that other input should be incorporated to complete the vision in mind. Several demo recordings were made from 2002 to 2007 but weren't satisfactory enough to be released. In 2008 new songs were written and with much more determination present from EJ to get Somnae up and running properly without any compromises. This determination finally paid off and after over 8 years of silence. After recruiting two strong forces from the Seattle scene (Jesse Heidner from Inquinok and Shaded Enmity and Brian Stephens from Inquinok), Somnae finally entered Darklab Studios in mid-July 2009 which resulted in the debut EP titled "Forever More" released independently in February of 2010. Now with the addition of Jeffrey Stephens on keyboards and Rob Steinway on guitars, Somnae has finally completed a very strong line-up and is ready to start playing live regionally and internationally. The band now has it's focus on a full-length recording, with the aim with completing it in the beginning of 2011, and which will have some notable guest appearances.

Forever More is the first EP from this American band and will take you on a melancholic journey through fields of somber decay and bleakness, not forgetting the cold and grimness influences of the old school past! Featuring members of Inquinok, Shaded Enmity, Spellforest, Dolens Aegrus and Axis of Evil, this five piece band have finally completed their very strong line-up and recordings, and inscribed their tones into the sands of time. With vast musical influences all the way from classical to ambient and metal, Somnae molds it into one strong entity to become a quick sonic fix of despair especially for fans of Celtic Frost, Death, Paradise Lost, old Katatonia and Anathema.

The word Somnae can be defined as:

A. persons who are able to enter a sleep-like state at will, also being able to revive themselves at will.
