Snotnose was the name given to a solo project by Rob Crow, the mastermind behind quirky cult favorites Heavy Vegetable and Thingy -- not to mention a featured player in Optiganally Yours, Fantasy Mission Force, Physics, and Pinback, among others.
Crow had done some solo work under his own name in the past -- in 1995, he issued a split LP with electronica act Lesser, and the following year saw the release of his official solo debut, Lactose Adept. Snotnose, on the other hand, was conceived as a one-off guise for the purpose of releasing an EP of material written entirely in one night. That EP was released in 1998 by Vinyl Communications under the title A Distraction. Crow sold another Snotnose recording as a tour-only special, but to date has not returned to the moniker on any official releases, solo or otherwise. ~ Steve Huey
