Essentially the solo project of former My Darkest Days guitarist Salvatore Costa, Smashing Satellites mix anthemic emo rock with more varied dance and pop-oriented material.
Formed by Costa after parting ways with My Darkest Days in 2012, Smashing Satellites take their name from the Toronto native's belief that technology has impeded our ability to communicate and interact on a more personal, human level. Although largely known for his heavy metal-infused guitar playing, Costa intended Smashing Satellites as an outlet for exploring his more eclectic influences, which run the gamut from classic acts like the Bee Gees and Michael Jackson to '90s grunge bands like Nirvana and beyond. In 2015, Smashing Satellites released their debut EP, SonicAluzion A-Side, featuring the single "Hounds." ~ Matt Collar
