One of a select few Malaysian pop singers to have success outside of her native borders, Siti Nurhaliza (born January 11, 1979) began her performing career at a very young age, wowing audiences at weddings and parties at the age of five.
In 1995, at the age of 16, Nurhaliza competed and won that year's Juara Bintang competition, which led to a record deal with Suria Records. In 1996, Nurhaliza released her first album, a self-titled affair. From there on out, her career was locked in an upward direction. She released more than ten albums over the next ten or so years, and appeared on a good number of compilations. Her hit album Hadiah Daripada Hati hit store shelves in December of 2007, and a follow-up was planned for 2008. ~ Chris True
