With our third album, Let’s Build A Summer, getting airplay on college radio stations in 30 states, Silent Agency is on the cusp of achieving its dream: bringing our music to the world.
Let’s Build A Summer was recorded at the prestigious Flowers Studio in Uptown Minneapolis, which has also hosted bands such as Motion City Soundtrack and Metro Station. Now, we are writing our first full-length album and recording our first music video.
It’s already been an awesome journey. The music started in suburban spare rooms and urban basements with casual jams and intense practice sessions. You’ll hear strands of everything from punk to experimental to shoe gaze to indie: it’s all about what works for the song. We strive to make passionate, intelligent music that lingers with you – body, mind and soul.
We’re a trio, but the audience is an indispensable fourth instrument in every performance: your dancing, clapping, singing, and screaming takes it to the next level. Expect high-energy, high-emotion live shows.
From private parties to the capitol steps, from coffee houses to renowned music venues such as Station 4 and First Avenue, from iTunes to MySpace, we’ve already reached hundreds of thousands of people.
We want to reach you. Listen to a sample. Download a song. Pick up an album. Catch a show. Or say “hi.”
Evan Bakker
Evan attended his first rock show before he was born, when his then-pregnant Mom played First Avenue. And his favorite band, Blink-182, came out with their last album three days after he became a teenager. It became a soundtrack: As a skate punk, Evan would skate until curfew while blasting Blink-182. Having been exposed to adventurous music all his life -- Bloc Party, Minus the Bear and Radiohead are on the playlist now -- Evan can’t help but want to create some himself. While some of Silent Agency’s songs are playful, Evan is intensely serious about turning passionate emotion into great songs and turning great songs into unforgettable live performances.
Matt Cassada
When asked what type of band Silent Agency was, drummer Matt Cassada gave a short, powerful answer: “a good one.” For Matt, Silent Agency is about making the best possible music -- finding the dynamic of a great song in a jam, pushing a live show over the top. He’s inspired by talent in whatever forms in takes -- from his musical Dad and Brother to Chad Smith and Travis Barker. And he’s fueled by the enthusiasm of Silent Agency’s fans. They make playing drums with the band “his favorite thing in the world.”
Keagan Potts
Having played his first club show at Minneapolis’s First Avenue at 14, Keagan Potts brings an impressive mix of musical sophistication and youthful enthusiasm to Silent Agency. Five years after he first picked up a bass, he’s listening hard to Gordon Moakes of Bloc Party— “busy isn’t always better and he plays fairly sparsely”-- and experimenting with a synthesizer “because it exponentially increases the mood of the song if used right.”
Keagan’s sees “playing as a means of communication.” It’s about emotion, not ego. On stage, “the energy that shoots through the band and connects us to our fans is awesome.”
