The pop/rock band SheSays formed in Vienna, Austria, in 2004 and are comprised of singer/guitarist Gudrun Liemberger, guitarist Andy Liu, bassist Valentin Rosegger, and drummer Rainer Schumich (who replaced original drummer Cathi Priemer).
Despite being Austrian, the band sings in English rather than German and bears an American-style emo influence. SheSays rose to fame after winning the TV show Soundcheck Spezial, which is a band contest. The band in turn signed to Capital Records and released SheSays (2006), a number one smash in Austria (though charting nowhere else in Europe), thanks in part to the number two hit lead single "Rosegardens" and a pair of less popular follow-ups, "She Says" and "Mountainside." Like those follow-up singles, SheSays' second album, Want It (2007), failed to match the band's initial success, peaking at number 18 on the Austrian album chart and spawning a couple moderate hits, "Open Your Eyes" and "Save Me." ~ Jason Birchmeier
