Described as a “sizzling violinist from Scotland” (BUFFALO TIMES, NY) Seonaid Aitken not only stands out from the crowd as an extremely versatile violinist/fiddler but, when you combine her “beautifully resonant singing” (PMP NETWORK,MA) and accomplished skills on the piano, as a musical ‘triple threat’.

Add to that her lifetime of experience in theatre and dance, and her ability to improvise, compose and arrange, and it’s easy to see how Seonaid has become an established performer on a world-class level.

Since graduating with Honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied classical violin and piano, Seonaid has performed in more than 50 countries across the world. In 2008 she took her solo show to the seas onboard the luxury cruise lines Azamara Cruises and Celebrity Cruises after signing an exclusive contract with the Las Vegas-based entertainment agency NiteRaiders and in 2009 made her debut as a guest entertainer with Princess Cruises. Seonaid continues to perform throughout 2013 as a headlining act having also made her debut with the elite6-star line Crystal Cruises last year.

Prior to her cruise ship performances, Seonaid toured Internationally for six years as the lead violinist/fiddler, vocalist and keyboard player with the Canadian-based dancing violin show Barrage, performed as an Irish singer and fiddler at Tokyo DisneySEA in Japan, and completed a residency as a Country fiddler and singer in The New Country Strings at Dixie’s Dam Country Bar in Las Vegas for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Originally from Glenrothes in Fife, but now based in Glasgow, Seonaid regularly plays with folk/indie singer Roddy Woomble, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, her Gypsy Jazz/1930s Swing band Rose Room, and with Western Swing band Stretch Dawrson and the Mending Hearts. A sought-after session recording artist with over 17 years of experience, Seonaid has recorded and performed with rock/indie singer Colin MacIntyre (aka Mull Historical Society), Country band John Miller and his Country Casuals, Scottish folk act Treacherous Orchestra and electronica band LakiMera. She also performed fiddle and 2nd keyboards in The Proclaimers' musical 'Sunshine on Leith' during it's national tour in 2010.

At Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival, Seonaid won a Danny Kyle Award in 2010 for her open stage performance with her Folk/Swing band The Seonaid Aitken Set. The band recorded their first EP entitled 'Furious Floyd’ in 2011. Rose Room, Seonaid's current band, launched their debut album ‘Somewhere in Roseland’ in 2011 which ranked no.15 in the top albums of 2011 by Jazz FM. Their new album ‘Am I Blue’ was released in May 2013.

Seonaid received the Leonard Friedman Violin Award from the Mendelssohn on Mull Music Festival in1996 which she showcased in the presence of H.R.H. Prince Philip with a performance of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’. She frequently returns to the Isle of Mull to take string workshops at the Mull Childrens’String Summer School.

Her television credits include BBC’s 'Coast' and, with Barrage, BBC’s ‘Children InNeed’, Bravo! and TVA (Canada)and PBS (USA). Seonaid also appeared alongside Colin Mockrie in the Walt Disney film ‘A Magical Gathering’ for CBC and can be heard and seen on the CD and DVD Barrage: 'Vagabond Tales'.
