In 1993, brothers Juan Carlos and José Antonio González decided to start a music career performing traditional Mexican songs.
After they were joined by singer Efraín Rubio and bass player Erasmo González, Los Sementales de Nuevo León were officially formed, making their debut with the release of an album called El Arbol de la Horca, which featured their first hit, "Renunciación." In 1999, the foursome recorded Me Bebí Tu Recuerdo, followed by Maldito Dinero. Los Sementales de Nuevo León achieved a nomination at the Lo Nuestro awards for Revelation of the Year in the regional/Mexican category. ~ Drago Bonacich
