Trained for the musical theater, Malaysian Sean Ghazi (born in Kuala Lumpur on April 4, 1969) became a household name when he appeared alongside Jodie Foster and Chow Yun Fat in the 1999 movie Anna and the King.
From there he appeared -- in the same role, that of Balat -- in the London West End stage version of the King and I. From there roles came fast and furious, including further West End appearances in Miss Saigon, Thuy, and Rent. In 2001, Ghazi returned to his home country, and appeared in a number of local productions. In 2006, he released his first album, Sean Ghazi Semalam, which featured his own particular and modern take on well-known Malay standards. The album was well received, scoring Sean a Best New Artist award at the Malaysian Music Industry Awards Ceremony. ~ Chris True
