Guitarist, songwriter, and Texas native Cabrera never planned on a career inmusic. His hobby turned into a passion after hearing Dave Matthews, causing himto turn his back on the noisy punk rock of his high-school band and pick up anacoustic guitar. His first group found popularity in the Dallas area, sharingstages with Cheap Trick, Ben Harper, and Third Eye Blind, before Cabrera'sdeparture. In 2001, Cabrera signed a record deal with Atlantic recordsand began working on his major label debut. Ryan, a multi dimensional playerand songwriter teamed up with the infamous Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls) toco-produce the album, Take It All Away, which was released in 2004. That albumspawned the hit “On The Way Down” which hit #15 on the Billboard hot 100. Take it All Away sold over 500,000 copies in the US alone and reached #8 on theBillboard top 200 charts, selling over 67,000 copies on the first week andeventually was certified Double Platinum. Ryan’s follow up album, You StandWatching arrived in 2005 and included hit singles “Shine On” and “Photo”. Thiscontinued to propel Ryan into stardom and opened the doors for a deal with MTVand his own TV show, Score. After the TV stint, Ryan released “I Will RememberYou”, a sync dream. The song was used as the closing montage for the entireseries of Will and Grace, as well as numerous other notable tv placements. Thesuccess of the song was evident by its rise on the iTunes 100. Ryan followedthis with his 4th album, The Moon Under Water, which was release in2008. Since then, Ryan has been relentlessly working on his craft. Staying onthe road and writing amazing songs is what Ryan is best known for and that iswhat he aims to do on his next studio album. Ryan is currently in the studioworking on his fourth record, slated for release in late 2012. Look for hisfirst single to be released this summer.
