Ruuti (Gunpowder) is a power folk music trio from Finland.
Its members are frequentlyseen accompanying the finest acts in the various corners of Finnish musicscene. However, this time these extraordinary musicians have butted their headstogether and stepped in to the front row forming a trio of their own.

Ruuti's birth took place after afreeform late night jam session. Therefore, the improvisation has been anessential element in their music right from the beginning, making the musiclive and evolving in the moment, night after night. The music itself is rootedin Finnish and Scandinavian folk music, but these days it is quite evident thatthe flow of inspiration can come from whatever direction or source. Importantideological element of the trio is also the balance in instrumentation. Fiddle,guitar and double bass are all equal in their roles, taking turns as soloistsor backing up the rest in the next turn of the event. The band is known fortheir live acts where subtle moments can turn in to a furious groove and therapid reactions between the members of the trio leads the tunes to unexpecteddimensions, but most importantly never leaving the listeners alone or asoutsiders.



The members of Ruuti – Ilkka Heinonen(double bass), Kukka Lehto (violin) and Topi Korhonen (guitar) – aredistinguished characters in the Finnish music scene, whose curriculum includestop acts of the contemporary folk music scene as well as diverse pop and rockgroups, theater and TV-productions.
