Her first paying gig was at the Green Spider Coffee House in Denver. It was the time of the great Hippy Migration and she sang for my supper up and down the coast of California. One summer in North Beach shared a room with good friend and brilliant guitarist Steve Mann, playing alternate weekends at the Coffee Gallery and The Coffee and Confusion. Water Records re-released her 1967 album CONSTANT COMPANION. A second CD has followed – A HURRIED LIFE, a compilation of home and studio recordings set down between 1965 and 1971.A third CD CHINATOWN, All new original tunes followed and now a history of her recording career in the wonderful new CD WINDY a RUTHANN FRIEDMAN SONGBOOK released by Now Sounds Records and compiled by music historian Steve Stanley. Her songs have been discovered by a new generation, which gives her no end of pleasure, having refound her joy in music and it is her hope that you will enjoy her new efforts as well as browsing through the history of her recording career.
