Best known for her collaborations with her husband, Archie Roach, Hunter successfully stepped into the spotlight on her own with a memorable debut album, Thoughts Within, in 1994. A review of a performance at a conference for the Research Center for Injury Studies at Flanders University pointed out that "the songs told stories about matters that are difficult and painful.
