A onetime member of Menudo, Brooklyn-born Latin-pop vocalist Ruben Gomez made his professional debut at the age of six in a McDonald's commercial; his musical bow followed four years later, when he appeared as an Elvis impersonator at the New York City club the Village Gate.
In 1987, a 12-year-old Gomez joined Menudo; he remained with the teen group through four years and seven LPs, later studying acting and appearing on Broadway in Oliver. After signing to Arista Latin, Gomez issued his self-titled solo debut in 1997. ~ Jason Ankeny
