News: Great Divide won 1st place in the Rock/Indie Category of the Australian Songwriters Association Awards 2013 :)
Hailing from the Top End, Roymackonkey are one of Darwin's best-loved Original bands and with the release of their New Album,"ABANDONMENT ISSUES", it's time for audiences elsewhere to discover what the Top End has long known.

Abandonment Issues is a cohesive record that covers a wide range of moods and emotions from the opening onslaught of"Version 2.0" and the yearning title track "Abandonment Issues" to the anthemic power-ballad-with-balls "Great Divide"moving all the way through to the 80s-flavoured bittersweet pop of "Random Hearts" and the shuddering, dramatic closer "Break", there's no filler and there are plenty of potential singles.

The band left town to record the new album May 2011 holing up at the home studio of visionary Brisbane producer/mixer Stuart Stuart, whose other credits include Shepherd , The Veronicas and Small Mercies , “Abandonment Issues” is built on a foundation of strong melody, with crunching guitars ,smooth multi dimensional bass playing , flashy but tasteful drumming and commanding vocals with soul-searching lyrics.

In the lead-up to the release of "ABANDONMENT ISSUES" came the single "Sleep Tonight", released January 2012,which has picked up heavy airplay on NT commercial radio and community stations nationally, Sleep Tonight has also won the band two NT Music Awards, for Rock Song of the Year and People's Choice and as well as inclusion onto Off The Records “Jack and Jill Coke” Compilation cd distributed nationally via street press like Rip It Up & Drum Media, the song has also been included onto the international roster of Daily Unsigned Radio who supply new music direct to audiences via a promotion deal with Aha interactive platform which is a unit of Harman International! This enables unsigned bands to have their music streamed direct into the dashboard of cars from manufacturers such as Hyundai &Subaru.

"ABANDONMENT ISSUES" released independently on February 9, 2013 available now on Itunes and Bandcamp.

Extra info: The artwork for the album "Ventricle Vessel" credited to Eva Milinkovic of Tsunami Glassworks Ontario Canada was selected as part of a Google search for images relating to the human heart which could show how beautiful, strong and radiant yet fragile and weak the heart can be when dealing with matters of love , hate & relationships!Eva's design was stunning and vibrant right off the mark and conveyed the right tone and description the band were looking for.
