Rod hasperformed and recorded for major artists and major labels throughout the years.Rod Tankerson has also produced successful recordings for local gospel artists.

In late 2007 Rod formed the “Band of Peace” after he wasasked to perform at BB King’s in Hollywood. The Band of Peace has had a fewpersonnel changes over the years but the core group is comprised of Rod onguitar, master trumpeter Stephan Vaughn, keyboardist Gershom Byass, and drummerRick Brown. Occasionally, guest members Flautist Isaiah Smith and SaxophonistWoodie Douglas, and son Keyshawn on piano round off the group.

Rod Tankerson and the Band of Peace have a very originalsound that is a mix of jazz, R & B, and classical textures. The groupperforms original music as well as jazz standards aficionados will recognize. Rodhas coined the term “Uniquely Inspirational Jazzy Music” to describe what theydo. Consummateperformers, Rod Tankerson and the Band of Peace have performed throughout theUnited States in recent years at various jazz festivals, civic events, andtelevision broadcast in Northern California. Rod Tankerson and Woodie Douglas are among the founders of Music and Voice Institute, Inc. in Banning, CA which is a music conservatory.
