Steeped in funk, heavily rooted in old R’n’B, cool and smooth like jazz and soul, crooning melancholic love songs with tongue in cheek lyrics, romantic as Samba yet subversive as Reggae. RobertSon has toured internationally as Bullfrog ( Rope-a-Dope/WEA), with KidKoala ( Ninja tunes) , as bassist for Money Mark.( BeastieBoys) and with his own One man Show.Since his 1st EP “Deeper Shade of Green” ( Outside 2004) RobertSon has been turning heads as a solo artist headlining clubs and festivals all over North America and Europe and opening for artists like: Charlie Winston, MichaelFranti / SpearHead, Maceo Parker, MoneyMark, Martha Highs, TheWailers, Soulive, Yael Naim, KidKoala, Bellruche , BlueRodeo, Medesky Martin and Woods, Kesiah Jones , Nneka…and many more.

Some call his first full length solo album “Favorite People “ – Baby making music ! Released in 2008 @ Place Des Arts during the Montreal Jazz Festival, followed by an appearance on “One Shot Not” for ARTE TV ( FR, DE) backed by the very great Marcus Miller on bass and the amazing Manu Katché on drums. The record was then re-released in Europe on Soulbeats / Discographe 2009

Self-produced in his home studio , his sophomore album “RobertSon and the Formerly known bullfrog…” to be released spring 2013 . Is a modern mix of vintage sounds and new technology; guitars laced with whas and mutrons, popping synths and Jazzy keyboards, string and keyboard basses, live beats and sampled drums. From up and funky party tracks -featuring Mc Blurum13 and Slim Williams , to more close and personal down tempo. Mixed by producer Carl Bastien (Daniel Bélanger, Dumas, Arianne Moffat) partly in Koala’s Record Room studio and Studio Victor in Montreal
