Born Nicholas Ong, rapper Point Blanc joined the well-known and well-respected Malaysian hip-hop outfit Poetic Ammo after answering a newspaper ad and passing via a pay telephone audition.
Quickly earning a niche for himself as part of the popular group, Point Blanc took a bit of a break from Poetic Ammo to work on forming a rap-metal band (Shuvit) that released a critically lauded and big-selling album -- Take It and Shuvit -- in 2001. After forming his own label (Voyeur Records) in 2005, Point Blanc released a solo album in 2007, entitled Straight to the Point. A tri-lingual affair (English, Malay, and Chinese), Straight to the Point was immensely popular, and earned the rapper a number of awards. ~ Chris True
