Planet Trash has been around since 1994 after the break up of The Underdogs.
Back then the band had a line-up of five people. That line-up recorded the bands first demo tape "White power bullshit" in the beginning of 1995. It containded 21 songs. Some of them ended up on a lot of compilations, mostly in Sweden. For example the classic, swedish compilation serie "Really Fast".
The name of the band is taken from a song by Sham 69. Even though we don´t have that much in common with Sham 69...I guess Planet Trash mix our influences from the early 80´s. Doesn´t matter if it´s american hardcore, UK82 or the classic, swedish raw punk and hardcore...From Millions of dead cops to GBH. From Sub Humans to Anti Cimex. Or even Asta Kask or Poison Idea maybe...It´s all there. But it´s always Planet Trash. We like to mix the fast and aggresive style with some catchy stuff.
Sometime during spring 1995 the band had it´s first line-up changes. Drummer Lillen was replaced by Kåre HardKåre and guitar player Puma was replaced by Wigren.
Since Kåre and Wigren joined the band there have been some line-up changes. Most on the guitar front. The "core" of the band have been Wille (vocals), Myran (bass/vocals), (who had been together in both The Underdogs and Funny Farm before they formed Planet Trash) and Kåre (drums/vocals). In the new millennium they were now a three piece band which had Wille to pick up the guitar.
During the nineties the band played a lot of gigs around Sweden. In 2002, the german label Volxdroge Records released the album "Hit by the truth". The album contains 29 fast and furious songs, pretty well covering what the band did during it´s first eight years. Without knowing why, the band, for some two or three years, didn´t play live that much.
In 2004 Parne joined the band and picked up the second guitar. The band now started to play live again and in 2006 Planet Trash went on our first Europen tour.
This line-up have been together since then but last year we replaced our long time drummer Kåre with Enas. Since this is the first time in over 12 years or something all the members of Planet Trash are living in the samt town (our hometown Bollnäs), we are now able to rehearse and play as much as we want.
In april 2014 Enas tragically passed away. Byt we decided to go on with a new drummer, Pontus.
Planet Trash have contributed on shitloads of compilations in Sweden and world wide over the years. Too many to mention. So there´s a lot of different CD´s, 7″, 12″, cassettes and what not out there...Beside all the compilations and the Hit by the truth album, we have always made our records and merch on our own.
So far...we have played/been touring in Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Poland, Czech Republic and so on…During the years we´ve been honoured to share stage with such bands as Millions of dead cops, Disorder, Oneway System, The Varukers, Disfear, Asta Kask, Uncurbed, AC4, Wolfpack, G.B.H. and loads of other bands.
Just before christmas we recorded five songs with our new drummer. I guess some of them will end up on compilations...we have no other plans for them. 2014 is our 20 years anniversary and we will spend this year write and record new songs. And play some gigs of course. We will try to get out as much as possible of our older stuff on some Planet Trash Collection LPs. Feel free to contact us if you want to release something with us!
We are right now making plans for our first US-tour, probably we are going in early 2015.
Feel free to contact the band at info@planettrash.se if you are a promotor, a band, a fanzine/magazine, a record label, a fan of hardcore punk or whatever, if you have some good ideas that you think would make the band happy. And of course, if you have any suggestions for clubs, squats, venues or festivals where PLANET TRASH can play.
