Influenced chiefly by Factory Records and Chicago acid house, Pig Out are an electro/dance-punk group based in New Zealand who released a promising debut album, Club Poems (2006), and established themselves as an exciting live act.
Founded in 2006 in Christchurch, New Zealand, the group has personal ties to England and is comprised of Marie Celeste (synth, programming, vocals), Kit Lawrence (vocals, programming), and Kris Taylor (percussion); plus, auxiliary members such as Nick Harte of the Shocking Pinks expand the lineup on occasion. Pig Out made their recording debut in 2006 with the eight-track mini-album Club Poems on the local independent label Pinacolada Records. Club Poems was critically acclaimed, named Album of the Month in the New Zealand music magazine Real Groove and voted number ten in the magazine's annual album-of-the-year poll. In 2007 Rough Trade released the album in the U.K., while Pig Out toured extensively and released the remix EP Bak 2 Xtacy Rush. ~ Jason Birchmeier
