He moved to Austin in 1993 from upstate New York and never looked back - musically-speaking that is.. While he'd like to think his songs are good, the bar is set pretty damn high in this town and in Texas. He’s found a new set of musical heroes old and young, here and gone – Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, James McMurtry, The Flatlanders (together and solo), Charlie Sexton, Radney Foster, Darden Smith, The Resentments (with Stephen Bruton), Alejandro Escovedo, and so many more…

“I achieved a couple of significant milestones in my college days, winning top prize at a state conclave of fraternity chapters which included performing my own composition. Performing for 1,500 people and their acceptance of my song was inspiring. I also composed a love song setting words from the living bible based in 1st Corinthians. I was asked to play that song many times over the years at weddings and funerals and was gratified I could help whether it was a celebration or a reflective, solemn occasion.

Phil has been writing songs for many years, but really focused more on a business career. About ten years ago, he decided that in this very short life we’re given, that the time had come to focus more on what he truly loves doing - songwriting.
