A trio made up of two sisters transplanted from Chicago to Boston (Kena and Nakia Epps) and a Boston native, Karen Johnson, Phajja presents a light, classic R&B sound.
As teenagers, the Epps sisters focused on studying dance and hoped for theatrical careers -- Johnson always had dreams of being a singer. When the sisters moved to Boston, however, their focus changed and they began to pursue singing. They hooked up with Johnson and quickly won a recording contract -- their debut album, Seize the Moment, was released by Warner Brothers Records in 1997. In 2000 they followed it up with a slickly produced sequel, Meeting in the Ladies Room, also issued by Warner Brothers. ~ Stacia Proefrock
