Peter Kunert is a London-based composer, music producer, guitarist and bass player having more than 15 years of experience in writing and producing original music for feature films, short films, documentaries, contemporary dance performances, theatre plays, radio shows, advertisements, live formations, singers, MC's, and many more.
He started collaborating the contemporary dance choreographer Eva Duda in 2003, they've produced over20 feature-length dance performances during the past 11 years. After the huge success of their Laban Prize-winning production Lunatika, they founded their own group, the Eva Duda Dance Company. Since 2009 the company has won several awards and most of their performances had been invited to prestigious dance festivals worldwide. Between 2007 and 2013 he composed and produced music for five feature-length contemporary dance productions in the oldest Hungarian dance institute, the Central Europe Dance Theatre. In 2013 CEDT released the soundtrack of all five performances on a 5 CD collection. Kunert was invited to work in the National Dance Theatre of Hungary more than ten times.
At the age of 21, he composed and produced the original soundtrack for the feature films Citromfej and Nexxt Frau Plastic Chicken, followed by several other films. In 2003 he had the amazing opportunity to write the film score for the sketch Negyedóra in the feature film Jött 1 Busz, based on the idea of the legendary world-famous film director Miklós Jancsó.
Peter Kunert was the founder, lead composer and music producer of the downtempo trip hop band Sadant,their LP Seven was released by DDK Records in 2010. Besides plenty of gigs at the biggest clubs in Budapest, and opening shows for such big names as DJ Krush (J) and the Anti-Pop Consortium (USA), between 2008 and 2012 Sadant performed at several international music festivals as well.
After working in a large number of theatre plays with many ofthe most acclaimed Hungarian directors and actors in the most prestigious theatres in Budapest, in 2007 he was invited to Berlin by the Deutsches Theater to be the musical director and composer of the drama Pizzicato.
As a music accompanist, Kunert played a significant role in the local hip hop and slam poetry scene. He participated in numerous events, contests and workshops, like the European Slam Poetry Days 2009 in Berlin with the Hungarian hip-hop duo Akkezdet Phiai, whose double LP Kottazűr includes many tracks he's taken part in as a guest producer, guitarist and bass player.
Peter Kunert's latest soundtrack was composed and produced for the multi award-winning short film Night in A Hotel in London. In 2013 the film won the Best Fiction Award and the Best Direction Award at the Thurrock International Film Festival, the Honorary Mention Award at the Milwaukee Short Film Festival, and the Best Drama Award at the Limelight Film Festival.
