Recognized in five categories in the second round of voting for the 2012 Grammy Awards, Pete Pidgeon’s “credibly original approach,” as stated by Rolling Stone contributor Jesse Jarnow, is rooted in multi-stylistic stories of perseverance and overcoming struggle – reflections of Pete’s true-life experiences – designed to uplift the spirit of the listener.
His collaborations with Grammy and Platinum Record recipients include Levon Helm (The Band, Bob Dylan), Kenwood Dennard (Miles Davis), Billy “Spaceman” Patterson (James Brown), Lew Soloff (Dizzy Gillespie), Nikki Glaspie (Beyoncé), Mark Kelley (The Roots), Charles Haynes (Kanye West, Lady Gaga) and Gabe Wallace (Gorillaz).
Pete's band members are experienced session musicians who can flexibly play American roots one night and neo-soul funk the next. "Diversity with authenticity."
One of Jeff Buckley’s former managers, Jack Bookbinder, recalls he was “struck by Pete’s jaw-dropping vocals and approach to artistry” and Performer Magazine lauded, “Doubt Is For Losers is an example of genre-defining pop excellence.” Pete’s poignant lyrics and “acute songwriting prowess,” as described by Relix Magazine, have been released internationally by the Sony BMG label and broadcast on BET’s number one show 106 & Park for 10.3 million viewers – as sung by former Epic recording artist Jessica Betts. Pete’s diverse compositions have been placed in award-winning films at the Honolulu Film Festival, Los Angeles Reel Film Festival, Boston International Movie Festival and Bare Bones Film Festival.
Radio airplay on 238 international stations, including a #3 college radio peak, support from core stations KEXP (Seattle) and WERS (Boston) and placement on WKZE’s “Top 10 Indie Releases of The Year” has resulted in consistent exposure. Pete’s music is available globally on iTunes and all major digital outlets. Additionally, Pete’s YouTube music instruction video series has received over 1.2 million views.
Based in New York, Pidgeon has toured the U.S. including a performance for the New York Times at Manhattan’s 85,000-capacity Javits Center. Pete has walked the music industry’s most exclusive Red Carpets, including the Grammy Awards, side by side with Paris Hilton, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Keith Urban and many others.
Pete’s current EP Growing Pains – a trio set of pop songwriting, acoustic balladry and anthemic love – was recorded at Sony Studios in Nashville with David LaBruyere (John Mayer) and Steve Brewster (Jewel, Bob Seger). Grammy-nominated engineer Eric Gorman (Herbie Hancock) mixed the collection which debuted at #9 on the college radio charts. The music video for “Will” stars Danish Chanel model Kristina Korsholm and Ford model Lasse Larsen and was shot by Sundance Film Festival Nominee Ryan Dickie.
The follow-up LP, “All the Little Things”, will drop in late 2014 and features a crack rhythm section of Levon Helm, Catherine Popper (Jack White), Glenn Patscha (Sheryl Crow/ Marc Cohn) and Justin Guip (Levon Helm Band). The 13-song, self-produced, Americana-tinged album is being engineered by Gold Record recipient Chris Bittner (Coheed & Cambria) at The Band bassist Rick Danko’s former residence Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY.
Giving back to the community, Pete volunteers with addiction-addled teens at the New York City-based organization Road Recovery and at CMHA in Connecticut. Pete proclaims, “It is enriching to contribute in ways that improve the mental and physical health of so many through the medicine of music.”
