Patrick Wass.
Patrick Wass spent a lot of time playing folk songs at Exeter University; whilst pretending to study Geography. He is, or has been, a schoolteacher, a songwriter, a guitar tutor, a travel lecturer, a photographer, a petrol pump attendant, a cider maker, a blackcurrant picker, a fruit tree sprayer, a ten pin bowling coach and a sailing instructor; amongst many other activities. He has been heard on National radio as well as local radios in Reading, Oxford and Bristol and performs solo, or as part of a trio, mainly in the South of England. Extensive travel in over one hundred countries has given him first hand exposure to the experiences described in his books and songs. The tracks on this site are from the album-- 'DISCONCERTING WAYS.--' A new album-- 'INCONGRUENT TRACKS,'-- is now also available. Patrick Wass has written three books: -- 'HOW LONG AND HOW TALL,'....A novel about Mungo, no hero, who tries to ignore the fact that he was named after his mother’s deceased dog. At University Jo-Anne and a dog leave scars and Daphne’s corsetry is too challenging. Fiona only warms his feet, whilst Annabel almost destroys them. Anthea’s immersion is too much to stomach. A trip to India should solve the problem. Kashmir is romantic and beautiful. Nancy is available and keen, but Mungo is distracted. The landscapes of Ladakh and Zanskar are disconcertingly clear and arid, but become distorted when Birgit introduces him to opium. Monsoon Varanasi is steamy and exotic. The Ganges is out of control as Mungo tries to achieve enlightenmentwith Judith.-- 'LOCUSTS IN MY CUSTARD,' ....describes a schoolteacher, reluctant to accept his own mediocrity and lack of impact on cyberspace, who seeks fame by becoming a singer-songwriter. To generate material for his songs, he travels through southern Africa on the back of an old truck. Returning to England, he plays at Open Mics and Folk Clubs.. Fame is, briefly, achieved, but with a novelty song for which he has no sequel. '--ATHLETE'S FOOT ON MY HANDS AND A BEAR"S BOTTOM ON MY FEET'...Gives advice to Impecunious global wanderers.
