Passengers was a one-album side project for U2, consisting of that band's members and Brian Eno.
The group came together in 1995, recording Passengers: Original Soundtracks as a tribute to their favorite film soundtracks. The album was quite experimental for the group, even featuring a collaboration between the five men and Luciano Pavarotti on one track. The liner notes of the album are filled with in-jokes, and the music was nothing like U2's previous output, so many fans felt alienated by the project and the album flopped. All the involved parties went their separate ways after a few live performances, and the project was retired for good. ~ Bradley Torreano
